The
Plastic Recycling Process
 |
Hundreds
of thousands of high-density plastics, otherwise known as HDPE, collected in county recycling facilities are used to
make recycled plastic lumber. The plastics pictured at left
represent curbside plastics picked up from residents of a South
Florida County. |

Once
sorted, the plastics are separated into clear and colored plastics,
then bundled. Each bundle pictured contains tens of thousands of
crushed plastic containers, ready to be reground, and then made, into recycled plastic
lumber. |

Once
the baled plastics are ground into flakes, UV and colorant are added
and
the plastic is re-molded into the finished product you see here. These
finished
boards, shown in our Weathered Wood color, now have a new life as a picnic
table,
bench, dock or deck! The boards pictured at left represent thousands
of
milk jugs that would have otherwise been landfilled. |

The
applications for recycled plastic are virtually endless! From an
oceanfront walkway & railing system that will never be affected by
saltwater or termites, to maintenance-free, no-rot golf course signs,
or interlocking landscape ties, recycled plastic is the superior
alternative. From all perspectives - environmental & maintenance
concerns, longevity & long-term cost savings, recycled plastic is truly
the better choice over wood, metal or concrete.
